Being a type of tourist destination, the inferior tourism destination are vulnerable compared with those destinations with advantageous tourist resources and markets. It has disadvantageous potentials of tourist development. Mainly attracting the local and nearby guests, this type appears in many parts of China. Failing to enjoy the strong support from the theoretical researches and enough practical undertakings, it can't catch up with the advantageous tourism destinations. Through careful analysis, AnKang city is a typical inferior tourist destination. Based on the redefinition of inferior tourist destinations, this article chooses AnKang city as the research case and with the development potentials as the cutting-in point, the author is to discuss and try to find a rational model for inferior tourist destinations.To evaluate the development potentials of AnKang City, the article accomplishes systematic analysis on AnKang's tourism resources, market and tourist products by RMP method. The undertaken research reveals that: 1) The overall tourism resources of AnKang city are abundant with 4 outstanding features while it lacks superior resources and what's more is that they are not ideally located. But generally speaking, AnKang Tourism enjoys very promising potentials; 2) The tourist markets indicated the particularity with AnKang and Xi'an, as well as surrounding areas. Moderate and distant market hasn't been formed. But it is now enjoying booming increase and the market broadening has started with great potentials; 3) The resource basis of AnKang's tourist products is good. But the market asks for varieties of products, while the products now available on the market are monotonous the exploitation structure is unreasonable.The author promoted comprehensive harnessing mode on vulnerable tourism scenic spot on the basis of tourism developmental potential analysis as the following: 1) Giving priority to the development of resource of supreme quality, resources with unique features and marketing desirable with mutual integration and combination; 2) Stressing on constructing three zones, one core, one corridor, one rim and five radiations; 3) Combined with local features in product development, three brand products should be formed as green ecological, healthy resorting, civilian-orientation to reshape Ankang city tourism segment by developing eight themes; 4) Moderate and short-distance client market should be exploited in the marketing development, and, simultaneously, harnessing three economic zone's market of Bohai Rim, Perl River Delta and the Yangtze Delta; 5) Enhancing cooperation with tourism market of Xi'an,Wuhan and Chengdu in the developmental process to integrate Xi'an economic circle and focusing on the embarking regional cooperation with surrounding areas. Finally, the essay promoted that prominence should be given to guarantee the establishment of sound management mechanism, the attraction of talented personnel and investment in the developmental process in accordance with Ankang's current tourism development for assurance of its tourism a sustainable, steady and rapid development.
