Regional economic cooperation is a new phenomenon after World War II, and has become an important feature of the world's economic development. In recent years, frequent high-level visits between China and Kazakhstan have provided a good political environment for two-side regional economic cooperation. In the hinterland of the Eurasian continent, Xinjiang occupies the forward positions of China's participation in the Central Asia Regional Economic Cooperation, is the gateway of leading China to Central Asia. Kazakhstan, which lies in Central Asia, is one of five fastest-developing countries in Central Asia. Kazakhstan has the advantage of stability in politics, and rich in resource. Adjacent to each other, there have been many closer national relations, good resource environments and high-level economic and trade cooperation platforms between Xinjiang and Kazakhstan. It's a strategic choice of Xinjiang economic development toward the 21st century that Xinjiang cooperates with Kazakhstan in regional economy.With theories of regional economic cooperation and based on the previous studies abroad and at home, this study analyzes the current situations and issues of multiple-field regional economic cooperation between Xinjiang and Kazakhstan by applying method of theoretical research and empirical analysis. this study puts forward the significances and conditions of regional economic cooperation between Xinjiang and Kazakhstan. The study investigates developments in trade cooperation, investment cooperation, energy cooperation and border economic cooperation center. The study tries to put forward suggestions and proposals on the further-going regional economic cooperation between Xinjiang and Kazakhstan according to the actual situations and existing problems.
