Empirical Study On The Current Situation Of Development Of Industry In Sichuan Based On The First Economic Census

The first economic census is proceeded by China in 2004. The data of the first economic census is the first-hand data for us to know the current situation of the economics of China and all provinces. Under this background, this paper study the industry of Sichuan making use of the data of the first economic census, profoundly and across-the-board opened out the character of the current situation of Sichuan industry, find the problem in the development process, also gave the countermeasure to promote the development of industry.This paper is divided into two parts. Firstly, the paper opened out the current situation and character of industry from seven aspects: gross scale,structure,spatial layout,economic benefits,competitiveness,contribution,energy consumption. Secondly, the paper concluded the problems in the development prosess and put forward some countermeasure to step on the development of industry.The conclusion of paper as follows:(1)Sichuan is the most concentrated area of industry in the west of China, but its gross of industry is much less than the strong province in the east of China(2) The advantage of structure contain: the number of big corporation is small but play a important part in the industry system;not-commonable industry is the biggest part in industry; manufacturing play an leading role;Sicuan has form a structure which the energy sources industry,metallurgy industry,vivers industry,machinery industry, medicine industry,electron industry are the primary industry. Its inferior position contain: the inverse proportion between light industry and heavy industry is not harmonious, the proportion of heavy industry is too large; the dimension of machinery industry is small and the situation of economic benefits of electron industry is not very good; the structure lack character.(3)The distribution of industry of Sichuan is very unbalanced. Chengdu economic region which the center is Chengdu is the chief distribution area of industry. Also this region is the chief distribution area of medicine industry,machinery industry,electron industry and so on. The metallurgy industry of Pan-Xi economic region is possessed of an important status in Sichuan. The spacious north-west of Sichuan economic region has a very few industry.(4)The degree of convergency of the other industry of Sichuan is not very high besides the electron industry in Chengdu-Deyang-Mianyang area and metallurgy industry in Pan-Xi area(5)The situation of economic benefits of industry in Sichuan is very bad, and the overall competitiveness is not very strong.(6) The industry of Sichuan contributes a lot to the increase of economy, but a few to society and employment. The amount of energy consumption is very large and the the amount of energy consumption for per production value is high.(7) The problems in the development prosess comprises of four aspects: gross scale,structure,development quality,development model. To improve the situation , Sichuan must promote the characteristic industry and dominant resources insustry, speed the development of light industry, form group of large corporation, put in practice the stratagem of brand and energizing enterprise by science and technology, pay attention to the educaton of talent,push on the industry agglomeration, pay attention to fetch in foreign capital at same time.There are two innovations in this paper:firstly, this is the first time to study the problem about the current situation of Sichuan industry using the data of the first economic census; secondly;using the local Gini coefficient combine with location quotient to study the situation of distribution and convergency of 12 industry in Sichuan.
