The are a lot of sites and defensive works, which belong to the"11 town-9 frontier"along the Great Wall of Ming Dynasty. Inside the Wall which looks like a long dragon, a great many garrison stations, passes, forts and beacon towers along it spread all over the place and formed a distinctive landscape of humane geography—military inhabitation places.The research is based on the existing system of military defensive settlements and the case study in Qin Jin area, focused on the forming, developing and evolution of these military inhabitation places from the resources and economic point of view, analyses how the political, economical, and natural environment factors impact the change of these settlements and the mechanism of themselves. First of all, summarizes and orientates the whole developing venation of military defensive settlements, the resources-economic characters and the defensive systems of the Great Wall depending on historical materials and choreographies. Then, the author states in detail these settlements at the aspects of its change and how the factors which are related impact. Based on these, the diagram on the mechanism of these settlements'change can be made using multi-theoretic such as history, resource economics, etc.While giving a overview of these settlements'change and development status during the Ming and Qing Dynasties, when the military significance of the Great Wall disappeared, in the perspective of regional economics, this thesis also analyses the problems in its'development which is seriously constraint by the resource endowment, and factors that caused these problems objectively or subjectively. The aim is to find out the ways that can make these settlements exist for long and live well, which will also provide some history references for the settlements'strategy making on economic, resources and cultural developing.From the perspective of the Great Wall research, this thesis gives some expansion for the meaning of the Great Wall frontier defensive system on the depth of economy, ecology and humane settlement. The laws can be found though the analysis of these settlements'change and the factors'role in it, which are also the important clues for the study on the Great Wall's development in specific history periods.
