Stainless steel surface quality is a key parameter of stainless steel performance during use process. In recent years usage field of stainless steel has developed a lot, the requirement for stainless grows higher and higher. Simple requirement for stainless steel already changed to complicated technical requirements, such as mirror surface, drawbench, dull polish. But during production, it is very difficult to get improvement in stainless steel surface field; surface quality of stainless steel is a key point restricting stainless steel whole quality system. This paper tries to solve stainless steel quality using six sigma method. First we made the analysis for current stainless steel quality on our steel making plant, and we also made comparition with world level advanced enterprises, finally we found the difference among us, and we used six sigma method to reseach problem and find solution. This paper is divided into 4 chapters, first chapter discoursed upon stainless steel production route and recent surface quality, quality influence for enterprise also is involed in this chapter. Second chapter explained about origin of six sigma method and six sigma theoritics and steps. Third chapter explained how to solve stainless steel surface quality problem using six sigma methon and how to research problem with DMAIC flow sheet on our steelmaking plant. Last chapter is for quality control and effect investigation.Through this text thinking way of using six sigma to solve quality problems is very clear, though we can not solve stainless steel surface quality problems at all, but we made the investigation using six sigma method, avoiding unnecessasary wrong works, this method can define project is a management problem or a technician problem.
