It discovered that the development of equipment manufacturing industry in Guangdong Province relied on the foreign capital seriously, and more talented persons are needed, technical independent innovation ability need to strengthen urgently. The concentration degree of equipment manufacturing industry enterprise is low in Guangdong Province, the research is weak; the industrial foundations such as energy, steel and iron are too weak, they must strengthen quickly; The Guangdong Provincial government recent years has done much for the equipment manufacturing industry development diligently. Through utilizing the multi-points in time variables by using the Principal Component Analysis method, this article has evaluated the level of each son- industries equipment manufacturing industry in Guangdong Province and the whole equipment manufacturing industry competition around the country, finally the result demonstrated that in 2003 and 2006, the computer and other electronic installation manufacturing industry, the electric appliance machinery and the equipment manufacturing industry, have maintained the Superiority status in the country; The metal product industry, the special function equipment manufacturing industry, and communication facilities manufacturing industry's competitiveness growing obviously. But the general function equipment manufacturing industry and the special function equipment manufacturing industry have weak competitiveness in the whole country; the competitiveness of the whole equipment manufacturing industry in Guangdong Province is situated the first place in our country, and it is higher than other provincial areas obviously. This article proposed that it is need to strengthen the competitiveness level of equipment manufacturing industry in Guangdong Province rapidly through implementing a series of measures such as "promote the corporation of the large Zhujiang area", "cultivate reasonable industry gathers", "walk the path of produces - study - research", "transform the information technology to equipment manufacturing industry", "enlarge the government's support". The computer and other electronic installation manufacturing industry, the electrical machinery and the equipment manufacturing industry, the communication facilities manufacturing industry, and the metal product industry should be developed as the key industry of equipment manufacturing industry in Guangdong Province. Guangdong Province will develop into comprehensive equipment manufacturing industry strong province.
