The Study On The Competency Of Professional Managers In The Budget Hotels

In recent years, budget hotel is developing rapidly. The budget hotels have entered the serious competition gradually, but the deficiency of outstanding managers also restricted their development. Most of professional managers are trained just for the traditional hotels. Therefore, there is a conflict between budget hotels' demand for high-level personnel and the lack of suitable professional managers. This thesis attempts to explore the competency of professional managers in the budget hotels, in order to appraise and train managers in a reasonable way.By reviewing with those relative researches about competency and the professional managers, and analyzing the characteristics and environment of the budget hotels, the author promoted 44 essential factors for professional managers in budget hotels and compiled questionnaire. Through the questionnaire, e-mail and online survey, the author investigated nearly 90 employees in budget hotels. With the statistical software to analyze the result of investigation, the following conclusions were identified:First, a large part of the data had high significance for professional managers in budget hotels, such as customer service awareness, communication skills, interpersonal insight capacity, cost control awareness, loyalty to the hotel, market awareness, teamwork, the ability to withstand pressure, relevant experience and confidence.Second, ten competencies were identified: analysis ability, professional personal integrity, self-confidence, team leadership & interpersonal skill, personality influence, information-gathering capacity, service awareness, the sense of competition, goals orientation and learning ability.
