With the rapid development of china private economy, too much capital inflow hotels, this advanced the development of private hotels. In order to meet the demand of private hotel, Chinese private hotels clamant need a lot of professional managers. Besides, facing to the management mechanism and adequate finance of international hotels, the developing private hotels need capable managing talents. So, some private hotels were actively exploring and introduced professional managers for developing.The process of private hotels introducing professional managers is not smoothly. Private hotels and professional managers need each other, but the result is not good as expected. The central cause of the problem is lack of unified standards for the two parties.From the angle of competency, this article explains the reason of contradictions between private hotels and professional managers. And the paper elaborates that the competency model can solve the problem. On the basis of theoretical and status analysis, this paper collects elements of competency through kind of ways. The author designs predict test and amends it, and finally compiles questionnaire. The collected data was analyzed in SPSS13.0. Through the explore factor analysis, eight factors had been extracted, includes: interpersonal skills, management level of staff, critical thinking ability, communication skills, self-management ability, strategic capability, implementation capacity, knowledge about hotels. Last the application of competency model was investigated in the human resource management of private hotels.
