The Guangzhou Port used to be the center of the Chinese and foreign trade under the Guangzhou single port system. After the Opium War, the foreign trade of Guangzhou Port declined, which was caused by the addition of the other ports, world market and civil war and so forth. The range of its hinterland also alternated. This paper studies the export trade of goods like tea, raw silk, sugar as well as grass mat and the changing of the range of Guangzhou port's hinterland in order to reveal their relationship: the rise and fall of The Guangzhou Port's foreign trade was the important factor to the development of its hinterland. Meanwhile the latter's variation and economical development also restricted the former. The range of the modern Guangzhou Port's export hinterland demonstrated its characteristics: its hinterland in other provinces was continuously reducing, while the hinterland in Guangdong province was continuously increasing, which exerted tremendous influence on modern Guangzhou Port and its hinterland.
