Industrial structure research is an ancient and eternal topic for economics. There are many ways to study the industrial structure, also have a lot of works about the industrial structure study. However, the current domestic study of industrial structure, are most analyzing from the market supply-demand relationship or the judgments in terms of experience changes of the industry, having a lack of the necessary supporting data. Shanxi is in a crucial period now of the third adjustment of industrial structure, the readjustment, optimization and upgrading of industrial structure in Shanxi is the issue that all levels of government concerned about. To realize the strategic changes in industrial structure, we must be take accurate quantitative analysis as a basis. The article will be the empirical analysis and study of the industrial structure in Shanxi from this point.At the first of this article, we analyze the current situation and the problems of the industrial structure in Shanxi, based on the theory of industrial structure and the level and conditions of economic development. We think that the upgrading of he industrial structure in Shanxi is slow, the proportion of agriculture in the industrial structure is too low, the internal structure is irrational; the position of second industry is excessively prominent; in the third industry, with a small scale and low level of development, the growth of traditional industries has reached the summit, affected by the depletion of resources. Then we use the quantitative analysis method for the causal impact of the industrial structure adjustment on economic growth, and carry out the industry contribution to the growth of the economy in Shanxi, we find that the second industry is the biggest contributor to the economy, but the trend is weakening, and the contribution of third industry is the second, and the contribution of third industry to the economy is minimum. Then based on 2002 input-output table and taking input-output analysis method into the analysis of Shanxi industrial structure, we analyze the affected effectiveness of various industries in Shanxi scientifically and to identify the pillar industries, bottlenecks industries and basic industries of Shanxi's economic development. Through empirical analysis, we propose the restructuring measures structure adjustment in Shanxi, to offer advice and suggestions for the realization of Shanxi "11th Five-Year" Plan and the achievement of the overall objectives of Shanxi's industrial restructuring.
