High-tech industry is becoming the leading strength of the world in the process of economic development. It draws the global economy ahead, and it's rapidly changing the economical connotation. That hi-tech industry brings about adjustment of economic structure, rapid and continuous growth of economic is general and new trend of world economic development. It is an important symbol of core contest in a country or region. Thus, in order to occupy a high position in the increasingly drastic contest among countries and regions, they constitute plan of high technology industry and ascertain it as the strategic plan to drive the economic development with vigorous sustains in manpower, material resource and financial resource.In recent years, high-tech industry in Midwest grows swiftly, its development effects more and more in the quality and quantity of the economic development in Midwest, has been one of the main driver in economic development mode transforming. However, in Midwest area, high-tech industry also has a series of problems, such as low gross, imbalance in the district development, rugged increasing manner. In the future, these questions would be the obstacle of the economic development in Midwest.In view of the aforementioned problems, on the basis of previous studies, according to economic growth and economic development theory, industry economic theory and region economic theory, the paper does empirical analysis about the relationship between economic development and high-tech industries. Gray correlation analysis calculates the various departments associated with Midwest economic growth and give a degree of order, which verifies the significant correlation and status of the high-tech industries and economic growth in Midwest. The paper compares the correlation extent in five high-tech departments of the hi-tech industry, which also verifies that the hi-tech industry has been the primary driven factor in Mid-west economic growth. The double logarithm model of high-tech industrial added value and GDP calculates and analyzes the output flexibility of the added value to GDP, which also verifies the conclusion of the grey correlation analysis, and then, paper takes a comparative analysis among the East, the Middle and the West. The restructuring effect of industrial structure is still not distinct by analyzing the model of the industrial proportion and hi-tech industrial added value. Finally, paper calculates HHI index of high-tech industries in Midwest, and it is obvious that the hi-tech industry clustering centralizes both in space and industry. Also, paper mentions relevant economic comment.
