Focused on the Japanese public housing after war and in the background of Japanese economic and social development , the paper divides public housing development after war into four stages: the establishment period of Public ownership , the rapid development period of public housing, the estate bubble period of real estate. The paper is mainly focused on the introduction of the development of Japanese public housing in these periods. The development of Japanese public housing involved in Building mechanism, Social background, Economic system, Welfare protection, Tax Policy, Government intervention and other aspects.This paper attempts to study Japanese public housing and related questions through the methods of summarize and summary, analysis and comparison.After 1980s, Japanese housing problem was basically resolved. The focus turned to aging residential and residential transformation.With the guidance of relative polices and theories,many Japanese architects put forward lots of new and special conceptions about public housing design.Furthermore, a great deal of different tendencies made many attempts in this field give rise to close attention to Japanese public housing.We have some housing problems now while Janpan is a very proper model for us that we can learn from their successful experience on the government policy, the way of construction, the detailed and informative research about different house for different people, and the achievement on aging residential, residential transformation.
