A Study On Effect Of Green Trade Barrier In Export Of Chinese Green Tea

Green trade barriers have become the leading obstacles to export of Chinese tea. Green tea is the main product of China for export, but is mainly sold in developing countries in Africa and Asia, at a low price level. In these years consumption of green tea is rapidly growing in Europe. But these countries have built rather high green trade barriers. So the product often has some problem in sanitation and quality. It has stopped China in its hard work to enlarge its green tea export, improve the trade term and increase benefit in tea industry. For situation like this, researching the effect of green trade barriers in export of Chinese green tea is very important.This essay is divided of six parts. The fist part mainly analyses the background of the paper and the importance of researching, also introduces general theory about green trade barrier. In the second part the developing process of theory on trade protection is systemically introduced so that green trade barriers can be researched on a wider theoretical background. The third part is about legal origin of green trade barrier. In forth part, supply of green tea and demand for green tea in the world are analyzed, structure of international green tea market, income level in the main market, as well as their cultural characteristic, consumption custom, the product proportion and market distributing also are studied. Then in part five the impact of green trade barriers on export of Chinese green tea is analyzed. First, market share, trade competitive ability index and revealative advantage index show that Chinese green tea is very competent in the world green tea market. But this is mainly by reason of its low price. And term of trade becomes more and more awful. Second, on the basic of theoretical analysis on effect of green trade barriers, the actual impact of green trade barriers is analyzed. In the last part, the paper analyze why Chinese green tea always counter green barriers and how to breakthrough green barriers.This essay tries to research green trade barrier in a wider background of theory and practice on trade protection, and tries to give a definition to green trade barrier by a point of view of causes not of motives. Certainly this is only a coarse and plain try.
