Research On The Schedule And Cost Management For EPC Mode Of Gas Projects

EPC general contracting mode is worldwide popular now and is vigorously spreading in China. Recently more and more EPC projects have appeared in construction market. But domestic construction corporations' contracting ability and management level don't adapt to the requirement of EPC projects yet. To adapt to the development of construction market, domestic construction corporations must improve their management. Gas engineering, usually invested and constructed by governments as an infrastructure to serve the people, is characterized by less engineering quality per unit, longer line for working, more complex underground, more dangerous substance to transport .The optimization of schedule and cost complexity are increasing. Schedule and cost management is the key of EPC project management. How to manage project scientifically is a large challenge for the people who are studying on the EPC mode of gas projects management theory or actual workers.This article analyzed and summarized the meanings and characters of our country's gas projects and the EPC projects, and contracting with the traditional model, pointed out the advantage of EPC mode for gas projects. Then the theory and methods of progress and cost management for EPC mode was introduced, and pointed out that the necessary of Earned Value Measure in EPC project management. This article applies three value index systems which displays BCWS, BCWP, ACWP, and gets four important indexes named CV, SV, CVP, SVP, which evaluate the practical situation of progress and cost. Thus a cost and schedule-integrated control method based on Earned Value Concept should be introduced for the improvement of performance of gas project management. This purpose has been promoted by this paper.This thesis made the use of the systems analysis and qualitative/qua11t1tative research method to to provide in the theory decision-making and the instruction for the bidding Process of EPC mode of gas projects. The writer made a sum-up and hope the text can provide reference for similar projects in some degree.
