Application Research Of Earned Value Management In Engineering Project Management

At present, there are various methods for project management, being a kind of advanced management method, Earned Value Management (EVM) is more and more being used in management of all kinds of projects. In our country, for the Earned Value Management is late in its step, the practical applications of the EVM in the engineering project management are not common. For promoting the broadly application of the EVM in the engineering project management, this thesis makes a rough research on application of the EVM in the engineering project management.The thesis has made a survey on factors in project management, theory formation of EVM, existing circumstance of its research, basic theory and factors of EVM, and analysis evaluation method of EVM, expound the general method of EVM in the engineering project management.Through apply Earned Value Management into actual engineering project management; the author verifies the application feasibility of EVM in this field. According to the problems finding in applications of the EVM in the actual engineering project, the author researches the existing problems in range of EVM application, EVM calculation, appraisement for projects with subprojects, appraisement and forecast of the progress, cost analysis, forecast and others, give the solutions, introduces the necessary modifier formulas, also introduces the concept and parameters of quality cost and security cost. Moreover, the author discusses the analysis method for quality cost and security cost in EVM, thus when applying EVM into engineering project, it can carry through not only cost and process management, but also quality and security management for the project. The thesis introduces the cost fluctuation caused by non-management factor into EVM, and introduces the concept of security cost into and participates into EVM of project. At present, consulted from literatures and data, the author still hasn't found any discussion on this aspect, so this is the innovation of this thesis.Through research on this subject, the author reached conclusions as follows:1. The EVM is absolute applicable to engineering project management;2. For applying traditional EVM into engineering project, there have some problems and the problems can be solved;3. The EVM is absolute applicable to management of quality cost and security cost in engineering project.
