In the year of 2000, our country has been the member of WTO. With the development of marketing competition, many Foreign-owned enterprises and Multinational corporations bring the impacts on capital, products and management level, as well as on creation and administration of new technology to domestic enterprises deeply. Some of Chinese enterprises learn and start to use Intellectual Property Rights (IPR), improving their comprehensive competitiveness passively, to counteract the new pressure and challenges for better development.During its transition, in order to keep their own advantages, the Industry Chain High-End Multinational enterprises will try different ways to maintain their market position. Besides the tariffs protection and some general protecting measures, nowadays, many multinational enterprises will erode the market competitiveness of our domestic enterprises by making kinds of blocks, such like making using of their own technical advantages, adopting non-tariff barrier and anti-dumping strategies, improving technical standards and strengthening Intellectual Property Rights (IPR) protection etc.. Relying on their advantages in the field of science and technology and IPR level, multinational enterprises raise the level IPR protection, make the so-called"minimum standard", combine IPR with international trade, do their upmost to improve the internationalization of IPR, and utilize their knowledge and property which are full of absolute advantages to obtain great economic benefits by charging expenses for using patent transfer or permit which is being implemented their own or assigned to others. The international competition in technology and economy has been embodied in the competition of IPR. To be an important component of IPR, patent is being as an important intangible assets. In recent years, Foshan is focusing on the growth of industrial economy, better quality and benefit, insisting the way to new style of industrialization, improving the innovation of traditional industries, also upgrading the development of new industries, which improves industrial structure and advantageous of pillar cornerstone industry significantly. Nowadays, we have already had ten good industries, such as household appliances, machinery and equipments, metal materials processing and making, ceramics and other building, textiles and garments, electronic information, food and drink, plastic products, fine chemicals and medicine, as well as home furnishings. Some of enterprises are leading and well-known in the nation, even the world. For example, Galanz- One of the biggest microwave oven producing enterprises; Premier- One of the biggest camera producing enterprise; Sunten Electric- One of the dry-type transformer producing enterprise etc. But meanwhile, we need to realize that though the so call biggest is only replying on the biggest of production capability and output, but not the advanced technology. Lacking of our own core techniques, it blocks our enterprise's developing steps to the international market seriously. How to go to the world, stand at the international market, and achieve the goal of globalization marketing? In my own idea, we should improve the level our own technology, equipment and key competition ability; promote self-creative system; enhance developing capability; lead the way of self innovation.In order to meet the challenges and improve the comprehensive competitiveness, The Outline of National Intellectual Property Rights Strategies was published in June of 2008.Along with it, many provinces and districts formulate their regional IPR strategies in accordance with their own industrial structures and economic conditions. In order to implement our IPR strategies thoroughly, keep the long-lasting competitiveness of characteristic economy in our city, and strengthen our traditional industries, it is necessary to select some pillar industries, such as household appliances, furniture and ceramic, etc., and formulate their patent strategy for better guiding and carry out their patent services,This text cite an instance - household appliances industry in Foshan city, emphasize on the research of the industrial patent strategy. The whole paper is organized by five chapters.Chapter one introduces the background and significance of patent strategy, as well as its characteristics and effects.Chapter two analyzes the basic theories of industrial patent strategy. Mainly introduce the concept, characteristics, target, content of industrial patent and their effects in regional industrial developing strategy.Chapter three analyzes the current conditions of household appliances industry via SWOT in Foshan city, creates the direction of its patent strategy. Mainly analyzes the difficulties and current conditions of household appliances in Foshan, their advantages and disadvantages, opportunities and threatening factors, and also the developing direction of household appliance industrial patent strategy.Chapter four formulates the patent strategy suited to the need of household appliances industry in Foshan according to the basis of previous three chapters. It introduces misunderstanding on how to set the patent strategy, guideline, principle and target of it, as well as the defending household appliance industrial strategy.Base on chapter four, chapter five puts forward the specific measures and methods of implementing household appliances industrial patent strategy.
