In1915 a scholar named taylor from the United States defined the satellite towns as a concept.Its characteristics are low in construction density,high in enviroment quality and separated from the down by green landsjt aims to desperse population and industry.Urbanization is one of the most significant social and economic phenomena in current world.As a major element of big cities,satellite towns,which are located around them,are defined as relatively independent small-to-medium-size towns that are affiliated to and closely connected with the big cities.The springing up and development of satellite towns is both a necessary result and a form of realizing urbanization.Meanwhile,urbanization brings challenges as well as opportunities to the development of tourism in satellite towns.While receiving and developing other industries of big cities,satellite towns are also intensifying the role of tourism industry,which serves as a powering industry for their own urbanization. Starting from this point,this thesis aims to make an analysis on the strategies of developing tourism in satellite towns.The special location,the relation to the mother city and its own characteristics,all these bring advantages and disadvantages,also threats and opportunities to satellite towns for developing the tourism.Yanjiao is one of the satellite towns around the capital of China-Beijing.In recent years,Yanjiao have introduceed many college branches of various government departments,high technologies,sports and recreational subjects.According to the develop planning,Yanjiao will be divided into four zones by function:high-tech,financial and business,scientific and cultural zones,tourism and recreation.But there is no discuss having been hold on how to develop the tourism more deeply depending on its own advantages,how to solve the problems in the starateges and development.This thesis is based on many scientific articles related to satellite towns.It summarizes the adventages and disadvantages,threats and opportunities that satellite towns may face.It include the conclusions and reserches in strateges and modes for satellite towns to develop tourism.At last,we take Yanjiao as an example,we hope that we could get some reasonable suggestions for it.This thesis can be divided into four parts.After the introduction,it starts with a study on the related theories of satellite towns.It points out that satellite towns serve as a political and economic center of the recreational belt around metropolis and a reception center of tourists from the central big cities.Meanwhile, they also serve as a decision-making body for utilizing the land in the recreational belt around metropolis and a major base of design and business promotion for the recreational projects. The entertaining function of the recreational belt around metropolis shall be performed by various satellite towns around.This thesis makes an analysis on the competition environment of developing tourism in satellite towns based on the SWOT approach.It makes the following conclusion:satellite towns witness disadvantages,threats as well as advantages.In the third part of this thesis,it summarizes and researches on the strategies of developing tourism in satellite towns,proposes some principles and development plans accordingly.In the fourth part,taking the satellite towns around Beijing as an example,it sums up a series of development strategies.Taking Yanjiao(a satellite town near Beijing) as an example,it makes a detailed analysis on the position of Yanjiao in the recreational belt around Beijing and its environment for developing tourism.Based on this,it researches on the development orientation of Yanjiao as a tourist destination,the organization,planning and strategies for such development.It also provides some ideational planning for some key projects.
