Research And Practice Of Project Management In IT Industry

With the rapid development of information technology,IT industry is currently one of the industries that have most widely used project management.The development of IT industry and the promoted information construction of enterprises in China inspire a further utilization of project management in Chinese IT industries.Through the examination of project management development in both domestic and international context,the current state of its development will be well understood with the analysis on the application problems existing in IT project management. Furthermore,the comparison and contrast between IT project management in China and foreign countries will contribute to the discovery of its problems as well as the underlying causes.In this paper,the research on IT project management is conducted based on two aspects in general.One is its externalities such as 'human' factor,social environment, and corporate culture etc.The other one is the internalities exploration,concerning the nine systems of modern project management and five methods of coordination management and professional management techniques.The case chosen is about the invoicing system project for a large chain restaurant company,which is completed by the author,the project manager,and his team members. Through this case study,the methods of IT project management and the outcome of its improvement will be analyzed and evaluated respectively.Meanwhile,the analysis on and the summary of remaining issues are also mentioned.Project management is a progressive subject in practice.This paper is expected to be a useful practice source of reference in IT project management.
