Feasibility study refers to the overall analysis, test, and evaluation of various problems relating to the market, resources, engineering technology, economy and society of the project before decision of investment is made, hence to judge whether the project is technologically viable, economically reasonable. It also selects among several plans and choose the best one. Its purposes are to make decision-making scientific, programming and reliable, and to provide guidelines and references for the implementation and control of the project. The present paper firstly introduces the developed qualitative and quantitative methods of feasibility studies at home in the field of real estate. Then the paper defines feasibility study in general and introduces the general steps involved in the process of feasibility study as well as the proposed model of it. Following this chapter, the author discusses the meaning of this study. The paper takes the first stage project of Ningbo Material and Engineering Institute Garden of Chinese Academy of Science as a case study, and discusses the project from the perspective of feasibility study. Its main contents are: project in brief, background and trend of the industry, necessicity study, implementation plan, organization structure, environmental evaluation, and cost benefit analysis; the paper tries to provide reference for similar projects and be valuable for other real estate projects.
