Research Of The Trade In The Northwest Borderland In Han Dynasty

The Northwest was the border region of the dynasty in ancient times,communicated East and West,guarded inland,and its importance was self-evident. In the Qin and Han Periods, The Northwest was in the developing and advancing stage in the economy. The trades in the borderland has maintained a flourishing state."Frontier Market"was the main form of economic exchange between Han and minorities. Since had opened a period of exchange with the Western Regions, the Western Han Dynasty began to enlarge local management. thus, the population, the society, the economy in Hexi and the Western Regions were rich day by day, coupled with the greatly improved of traffic conditions, the extension of administrative system of the Han Dynasty in the Northwest which gave a considerable protection to the business trade between the East and the West. And further more, commercial exchanges and trades between Han and other minorities or other countries became more and more. Especially after the Hanwu Emperor, it has been an unprecedented state and trade way also showed a trend of diversification. All these trading activities in borderland prosperize the Northwest's economy together.In 20 century, Massive Han bamboo were discovered. it provided the first detailed material for study the economical trade situation in the Northwest. Especially for the phenomenon of buy and sell in border district, the man who work on transportation, the commodity trade , the economic activity in the folk and so on, it all gave a present in certain degree. Study on the northwestern economy and trade has aroused the concern of scholars.In this paper, based on the research achievement made by scholars, The author attempts to use the well-known document ,discovered bamboo books like JuYan and DunHuang to discusses the economic activity in the Northwest of the Han Dynasty. Also, the author will give a discuss from multiple perspectives, such as"Frontier Market", business trade, transportation and so on. So, we can know the development condition in the Northwest of the Han Dynasty from a more comprehensive angle.
