The Analysis On Reasons For Development And Decline Of Yantai Trade In Late Qing Dynasty (1863-1911)

Yantai is a small "Yu Liao",with the development of sea trade,especially after the opium war,the trade of Yantai developed quickly.It was forced to be outside world in 1861 and located Chefoo Customs by virtue of the Yantai port conditions and the status of the trade center.The following year,it "invited" foreigners to tax. After the establishment of the Chefoo Customs,the trade of Yantai developed quickly,the trade volume increased rapidly,the goods of import and export increased rapidly in the numbers and types.Although the trade of Yantai developed,the process of development was ups and downs and very unstable,which is one of an important reasons for the decline of Yantai.The year of 1905 was a watershed,the trade of Yantai during the year reached peak,and then declined rapidly.Author analysis various aspects of trade and reached behind Yantai port facilities,extremely inconvenient traffic conditions as well as during this period,the fierce competition of trade from Qingdao,Dalian leading to the decline of Yantai.Yantai is one of "the three" first-class port in the north,,but ultimately declined into a second-rate.The rise and fall of Yantai is worth of thinking.In this paper,four chapters in this period of development and decline of trade Yantai expounded.ChapterⅠbriefly discusses the development of the former Trade of Yantai port and Yantai port situation,the Chefoo Custom setting up and the impact of Chefoo Custom.ChapterⅡall the aspects of trade development of Yantai are discussed.First,the development of trade in 1863-1911 year is discussed,and then the structure of trade of Yantai,important goods of import and export and the firm in Yantai are analysised, last the shipping of Yantai is also descripted an analysised.ChapterⅢbase on the trade analysis of second chapter,a simple description of the performance of the decline of Yantai trade,focus on both internal and external trade on the decline of Yantai in-depth analysis.Finally,I make a simple conclusion for the development and decline of Yantai trade.
