Balanced Scorecard is an integrated method to evaluate the performance of an enterprise. The method covers both financial and non-financial indicators. As a new management tool, it focuses on realization of the strategic objectives of an Organization.This paper attempts to design a new performance management system of OOCL through analysis of current performance evaluation system of the company and the application of Balance Scorecard theory.The paper is composed by four parts. Introducing the theory foundation, the first chapter covers the definition of performance, performance management and the theory of Balanced Scorecard. It also analyzes such major performance management tool as KPI and Target Management systematically. The second chapter gives a brief introduction of OOCL and analyzes the current situation of performance management of the company. As an innovation, chapter three re-designs the performance evaluation system of OOCL with serious consideration of current and future situation of OOCL. Potential problems and possible answers in application of Scorecard are also analyzed here. As conclusion of the paper, the fourth part accesses the possible outcomes of the application of Balance Scorecard in OOCL.
