In recent years, with the rapid development of Chinese social economy and economic globalization, the logistics industry has been paid more attention and become an important industry for economic development. Logistics comprehensive development level becomes one mark of comprehensive national strength. After analyzing the advanced experience of the logistics developed in domestic and international, the distribution is proved to be a high efficient way of logistics service. As the main infrastructure for distribution activity, distribution center is the keystone in the logistics facility planning for a period of time in the future. Especially in the special condition of financial crisis, the Executive Committee of the State Council has deliberated and passed in principle the planning of adjusting and revitalizing the logistics industry, put forward clearly that we should strengthen construction of logistics infrastructure. So it is a very urgent task to study on the location selection of distribution centers.As the node of logistics network, distribution center connecting between the upriver supply points and the downriver requirement points, play a role of connecting link between the preceding and the following in the whole logistics system. Whether the location selection of distribution centers is proper, which is directly related to the efficiency of the entire distribution, logistics costs and customer satisfaction, should have an important impact on enterprise operation. The purpose of our study is locating reasonably logistics distribution centers in the existing objective conditions in order to make the costs of whole system least and save operating costs of enterprise management, to ensure efficient and balanced development of logistics systems and enhance the effect of customer service and the competitiveness of enterprises.This paper firstly proposes the background and significance of the topic and describes the research status of location selection at home and abroad. And then studies on the relevant theories of distribution centers to let everyone know comprehensively, including the concept of logistics and distribution, the concept and development process of distribution center, the classification and function of distribution center, as well as its role. Lately it gives detailed description on the relevant theories of location selection, including the principle and influencing factors of location selection, as well as the steps and general methods of location selection. Finally the paper sums up several methods commonly used at present. On the basis of these theories, this paper sets up a nonlinear mixed 0-1 programming model. Under the condition of candidate address being identified, on the basis of constraints being meeted, this model requirement to minimize the total cost which consists of four parts: total transportation cost, total distribution cost, the processing costs aroused from the sorting/processing/packaging of goods, as well as the investment costs for infrastructure. The paper uses a specific example and solves the model by separately programming at LINGO9.0 (based on the traditional non-linear programming method) and MATLAB7.0 environment based on genetic algorithm. The analysis results show that using genetic algorithm to solve the model is feasible.
