Regional imbalance of agricultural development is seriously restricting the improvement of China's comprehensive agriculture levels and the overall process of agriculture modernization. Using advantage of backwardness to achieve catching-up and coordinated development of regional agriculture is an effective way to solve this problem for the central and western agricultural regions. At the basis of summarizing the theory of advantage of backwardness and technology diffusion, this paper analyzed the achieved conditions and channels of advantage of backwardness to the central and western production of agriculture. At the same time, by means of constructing mathematical models and econometrical tools, we made out thorough examination and analysis to the status and trends of agricultural technology in three major regions. We also did much empirical research to the issue of inter-regional agricultural technology diffusion and innovation. Through empirical analysis we drawn the conclusion that the advantage of backwardness exists in the central and western agricultural regions indeed. Finally, we made some policy and recommendations to development China's agriculture based on the perspective of technology diffusion.
