Rural passenger transportation system plays an important role to meet farmers' transportation demand, serve the constructions of socialism new rural area, enhance intercourse with urban areas and promote integration of urban and rural areas. At present, there is a lack of specialized theories, methods and studies to guide the systematic, scientific rural passenger transportation planning and construction. Therefore, it is necessary to improve its theory and methodology system by systematic research of rural passenger transportation planning related aspects.On the basis of practicability, this thesis studies in rural passenger transportation planning theories and methods by applying transportation planning and related theories, and sets up a planning system. The main studies involved are as followed:The meaning, structure and characteristics of rural passenger transportation are identified. The environment analysis is based on the characteristics of rural road network, residents and time-space.The method of traffic zone partition is discussed. The method of passenger transportation demands evaluation suitable for rural areas, which includes the socio-economic evaluation, trip generation- traffic mode split- trip distribution-trip assignment evaluation and station throughput evaluation, is figured outThis paper studies in the methods of locating, layout and construction scale of rural passenger transportation station planning and establishes the hierarchy structure, township importance indicators and hierarchy division method of rural passenger transportation stations. Bus station location planning model of rural areas, named Improved CFLP Model, which can output sites' initial scale at the same time, is designed on the basis of determined total amount. And station grade standard is given. Besides, scale planning model is constructed by adjusting the initial scale to the needed result, with factors not taken into account in location model, i.e. the flow direction uneven factor, the flow time uneven factor and the development factor.Layout rural passenger transportation network patterns and its applicable methods, and hierarchical-optimized planning method of "hierarchy study first,hierarchy layout, and then overall optimization" are established after analyzingrural passenger transportation network planning principles and its influencingfactors.
