An Assessment Model Of Factors Influencing The Tacit Knowledge Converting In Technology Transfer

With the increasing of technology complexity, although the explicit knowledge such as the dominant operational knowledge is to be transferred, more important is the transfer of tacit knowledge which is more challenging and difficult to imitate and manage. In the actual technology transfer activity, it is not enough for supplier-side to only provide the explicit knowledge such as the blueprint of technical products, which are related to technical data. The key of enhancing technology transfer levels is to transfer the tacit knowledge which is the dominant components of R & D theories and methods for personnel solving question. Generally speaking, the tacit knowledge is the know-how which hid in their mind of R & D staff.Based on the relevant literature of existing tacit knowledge management and technology transfer theory, we pointed out that the technology transfer effectively is due to the converting of tacit knowledge. And factors influencing the tacit knowledge converting in technology transfer are considered in this paper. Assessment system is integral part of knowledge management. It is difficult to manage the tacit knowledge hidden in people's mind and organizational culture where it is hard to code the tacit knowledge. There is necessary for not only paying attention to tacit knowledge converting, but also relative importance of each factor influencing tacit knowledge converting so that enterprises take preventive or remedial measures timely. So a systematic assessment method is required so that the converting of tacit knowledge achieves the optimum condition. This is also significant for better grasping and controlling of such knowledge converting as well as realization of technology transfer project. Therefore, the AHP method is introduced to the assessment of factors influencing tacit knowledge converting in technology transfer, and model is also proposed. We attempt to classify the factors and sort their importance with indicators Evaluation System established in the paper, so that the possibility of influencing factors as well as the influencing consequence can be recognize and assessed. Based on the analysis of the impact analysis for relevant factors as well as testing and interpretation of model in the case, a number of measures are proposed to provide technology transfer with theory and tool under the background of tacit knowledge management.
