Along with the constant socio-economic development in the county area, problems among population growth, resources and environment, socio-economic development, resource utilization and ecological environment maintenance, resources exploitation, utilization and environment are increasingly serious. It has become a hot topic in recent research among scholars that how to realize the coordinative development of PRED system, which is composed of population, resources, environment and socio-economic development.The sustainable land use is an important foundation and core of the sustainable development in county level, the relevant research has been paid much attention by scholars at home and broad. Based on the thought of district PRED coordinative development, the paper starts with the correlation analysis among four subsystems including population, resources, environment, socio-economic development and the sustainable land use, thus the county sustainable land use evaluation index system under the framework of PRED system is constructed. At last, Zaoyang is chosen as a case in the empirical analysis.This paper contains six chapters, the first two focus on the significance, purpose, contents as well as theoretical basis research about the sustainable land use evaluation from theory and practice aspect; the county area sustainable land use evaluation index system is ascertained based on the PRED system framework in chapter 3, furthermore, the weights calculation, standardized index processing method as well as the evaluation standard for sustainable land use degree have been determined; in Chapter 4, entropy value theory is applied to analyze the reasonability on land use structure in case area Zaoyang; empirical analysis is conducted in Chapter 5 by taking Zaoyang as a case; conclusion and research questions under further discussion are arranged in the last chapter.The conclusions of this paper are as follows:(1) The county area sustainable land use evaluation index system has been constructed by choosing 34 evaluation index points from 4 aspects as population, resource, environment as well as socio-economic development based on the district PRED system framework;(2) It is concluded that the entropy value of land use structure information in Zaoyang during 2000-2007 ranges from 1.7668 to 1.7729, the land use structure is relatively stable; the land use reasonability level is between 0.7673 to 0.7700;(3) The sustainable land use evaluation index system in Zaoyang is ascertained by using single correlation coefficient to filtrate the county area sustainable land use evaluation index, and there are 26 evaluation index points; (4) It can be shown from the result that during 2000-2007 the sustainable land use level is keeping a decreasing trend (from 0.6580 to 0.6369); the sustainable land use level is relatively high during 2000-2004, but tend to be a medium level during 2005-2007;(5) By analyzing the coordination among the PRED systems and the land use systems, it can be concluded that the subsystems in land use system in Zaoyang don't have a high holistic coordination level, among which the population and socio-economic development, resource and environment, as well as population, socio-economic development and land use system are in positive correlation; the other holistic coordination level is not very high despite socio-economic development and land use system have significant positive correlation and high coordination level; resource and environment factor are vital factors to restrict the sustainable land use in Zaoyang;(6) The countermeasures and suggestions are proposed for sustainable land use in Zaoyang in future by analysis on the evaluation results; personal views from paper author about the research direction on county sustainable land use in future are also brought forward in the end of paper.
