Farming Land is the most fundamental material condition for agricultural production and an indispensable condition for the survival of human beings. For the survival and development of human beings as well as good co-ordination of man-land relationship, we must carry out Farming Land grading and evaluation with high accuracy and in turn we can make use of Farming Land more scientifically and rationally. However for long period, the research on Farming Land grading and evaluation has been restricted to Cultivated Land only and the study for other types of Farming Land is insufficient in content and weak in pertinence. However, Garden Plot is an important type of Farming Land in our country. With deepening of countryside land property right system reform and improvement of the Farming Land market, the study of grading and valuation for other types of Farming Land such as Garden Plot will be more meaningful and necessary.Given the fact that there is insufficient research on grading and valuation of the Garden Plot available currently, this article is based on the basic features of Garden Plot use and comparing the specific difference in grading and valuation between the Garden Plot and Cultivated Land, guided under the Theory on land rent and land price, Location Theory and Soil Science Theory as well as Theory of Geographic Information System, reference Cultivated Land grading and valuation methodology, to discuss basic ideas and methods of Garden Plot grading and valuation according to its characteristics by means of combination of qualitative and the quantitative evaluation, theoretic analysis and case analysis as well as commonness and specialty, in the form of integration of documents study, comprehensive survey and field investigation. At last this article will carry out a case study of Jiangshan City in Zhejiang province. Conclusion of the study: firstly, the differences of grading and valuation between Garden Plot and Cultivated Land mainly lie in the choice of method, connotation definition, the determination of specific statistics in the grading process and valuation process. Secondly, the grading and valuation of Garden Plot are closely related and the former is the foundation of the latter. Thirdly, at present, grading of Garden Plot should adopt the component approach and the basic land price calculation should employ the averaging method of sample land. What's more, after the case study of Jiangshan analysis, the basic ideas and specific technical methods of Garden Plot grading and valuation discussed in this article have certain maneuverability in actual operation.
