The Study On Supply-Demand Balance For Throughput Capacity Of The Container Ports In China

This paper mainly studied the future balance between the demand on throughput and the supply of handling capacity of China's container ports. Being affected by financial crisis, economy in the world has not fully recovered from the shock, and a direct result is the slowdown in China's import and export trade. In addition, China's economic structure is changing slowly; import and export products are changing from the "processing" mode to "technological innovation" type, which will directly reduce the demand for container transport in China. However, China's container port construction from south to north is raging, and the new increase in throughput will further lead to an oversupply of container transport, even the vicious competition between container ports.Based on the above issues, this paper firstly analyzed the current situation of China Container Transport, studied the characteristics of container transportation. Secondly, it predicted China's future demand on container throughput, Using a quantitative method to predict the throughput of this single factor, and With a qualitative view to adjust the prediction results, which the three factors are China's GDP, foreign trade import and export volume, and containerization rate, after that we can obtain a reasonable prediction interval. Then, this paper analyzed and summarized the planning of the handling capacity of the major container ports in China, and noted the adaptability of container handling capacity, which is the elastic problem of the handling capacity. Based on the above analysis of the supply and demand balance between China's container handling capacity and future container throughput, we can get the conclusion that the supply will exceed the demand, which will bring on the serious consequences. Finally, according to this problem, this paper put forward some suggestions.
