Container Transport Network Optimization And Container Volume Promotion Strategy Of Dalian Port

In recent years, the container throughput of Dalian Port increase rapidly, but compare to the ports of the Pearl River Delta and Yangtze River Delta region, Dalian Port’s total container transport still has a wide gap. The main reason is that the container supply of the Dalian Port’s hinterland is inadequate, and one of the few containers is carved up by Dalian Port and Yingkou Port, which means cannot be concentrated to Dalian Port. And compared with Yingkou Port, Dalian Port has a land transport disadvantage of long distance and high cost, the diversion of container supply is gradually rising. Therefore, how to improve the container transportation network of Dalian Port, strengthen interaction of port and hinterland economic, and increase the container throughput of Dalian Port is now an important problem. Especially, how to increase container supply and complete the task of the provincial government that the container throughput of Dalian Port will reach 10 million TEUs by 2015 is the key issue which is urgently need to solve. Therefore, study the container transportation network optimization and container throughput improvement strategy of Dalian Port has important practical significance and value.This thesis takes the container thoughput of Dalian Port for study object, through the use of theoretical research, model development and application of a combination of methods, to study the container transportation network optimization and container throughput improvement strategy of Dalian Port. First, use regional economics, transport location theory and integrated transport planning theory to analysis the influences of regional economic development on Liaoning coastal ports. Then, use factor analysis to analysis the factors that affect shippers’ port selection strategy to identify the key factors affecting the Dalian Port container throughput. After this, we collected the relevant data of Liaoning coastal ports and their hinterland, and establish a bilevel programming model and route sensitivity analysis model, solved by the use of SPSS, Matlab2010 and Excel software. Finally, according to the real competitive environment and economic environment of Dalian Port, we obtain the container throughput improvement policies and measures of Dalian Port, provide the theoretical guidance of reference and a valuable basis for decision making for Dalian Port operating decision makers.
