Our country has entered the aging society, the pension system, welfare policy is also in constant development and improvement. Many children are also changing the way of traditional pension and support their parents to travel. A growing number of aged people also choose to participate travel activities if health permitting to appreciate the motherland, beautiful mountains and rivers, moreover, to increase their knowledge. Old tourism in our country will occupy more and more share. However, in such a good development prospect, the aged tourism is in lower profits, relevant laws and policies is not perfect, the aged tourist services demanding on issues, etc. Therefore, to study the aged tourists motivation and tourism market development will be a great significance.Fully adopt qualitative research and quantitative research in this paper, and, review the travel motivation research of the aged at home and abroad. As the tourism motivation has diversity, complexity feature, and the paper take the aged in Hefei as an example of the empirical study of corresponding, investigate preferences and travel motivation of the aged tourists.Introduce questionnaires for quantitative study on the spot in Hefei. The questionnaires include basic personal information, extended information, intrinsic motivation and external tourism aspects of tourism motivation. Using Likert five-point scale method for the question of tourism on the motivation, and adopting SPSS statistical software, we obtained the most value and least value of intrinsic motivation and extrinsic motivation of the aged tourists from the average analysis. In the impact of tourism motivation, different gender, age, occupation, education and income level for the aged, the impact of tourism motivation showed significant or inconspicuous differences.In order to create a health and sustainable development of the elder tourism, we got some useful advices and countermeasures from the source of tourism, the tourism destination, the government, and the three angles of the external environment to support the aged tourisim market on the base of the aged tourist extended information and the tourism motivation.
