A Study On Performance Evaluation Index System Of Association Meeting Based On Stakeholder Theory

The convention industry in China has played an increasingly important influence on regional economy and related industry for the rapid development in passed 20 years. Especially the economic and social impact arising by international convention industry, which has become new strategy of city development and image building.Real and objective data of each meeting program is the basis to realize the specialization and brand building of the whole meeting industry. For conference organizers, it can be the data basis of feasibility analysis in convention program and the data support of project investment. It can be used to analyze market problems, market trends and countermeasures that could taken later. Also, it can provide support for brand building of future meetings. For venue lessor, sound and uniform data can provide background rental information. For participants, it can be a reference to attend or not. For conference charge department, it is the reference for industry management. Among kinds of domestic convention and exhibition assessment agencies, most are summary done by convention organizers themselves, or just a hierarchy for the meeting, focusing on the scale and impact and limiting to one meeting. However, we are lacking of the overall evaluation conducted by the institution with objective identity. In conclusion, meeting evaluations in China all have following problems:no unified and authoritative standard and certifications, lack of third-party certification, one-side pursuit of foreign certification. So, a unified assessment of the international convention has become the industry's urgent needs. Considering the significant importance of convention evaluation and the unsatisfactory status in China, the paper proposes a set of integrated performance evaluation index system on association meeting, which combines the integrated characteristics of international convention for interest demands of many multi-stakeholders.In particular, the paper takes association meeting as example to set up the evaluation index system for convention program, based on the existing experience and research results, combined with management of stakeholder theory and performance evaluation theory. The research results, which focus on maximizing the interest demands of each stakeholders and the whole team, would provide practical guidance for convention evaluation in China so that a unified evaluation system for China would be set up one day.
