Convention and Exhibition (CE for short) industry is a new type of economicpatterns after the tertiary industry's maturity, is a green industry that could not onlybring the economic benefit but also the social effect. It triggers the flow of trade,commodity, brain, capital and information by holding conventions and exhibitions,Which could promote the development of trade, tourism industry directly;in themeanwhile, it could also push the development for other industries by means ofcreating more opportunity to attract the investment from foreign countries, and finally,form a economic colony centering on convention and exhibition activities. Under thedevelopment of the world trade globalization, CE Economics has played a more andmore important role in the aspects of trade, the technical intercourse, economiccooperation and employment. Hence, as the new style and urban smokeless industry,CE has showed its brightness to the service industry, and been paid more and moreattention on. On one hand, CE industry stimulated the development of the city. On theother hand, favorable environment and impression has attracted more conventions andexhibitions.This article first introduces the definitions of CE and Economy of CE. Itproposes several fundamental theories for the study of the Economy of CEdevelopment, such as industrial structure theory, multiplier effect theory andacceleration theory, and also the spatial interaction theory, and expatiate the effectsthese theories have on CE economics. Additionally, it takes the experiences ofGermany, London City and Hong Kong as references, and uses these on thedevelopment of Chinese CE.The article proposes the countermeasures to the CE in China by analyzing thepresent situation of Chinese CE and the problems existed. It discusses the factors thathas restricted the development of CE in China and propose the suggestion andcountermeasures accordingly on the following aspect, how to get rid of the defect ofthe brand of planned economy, the condition of out-of-order competition, the lack ofscale, effect of international brand, the poor quality of services and the scarcity ofintelligence. To solve these problems, this article proposes some measures frommacroeconomic environment and micro-management, and then forecasts futuretrends.
