Today, with the rapid development of economic globalization and regional economic integration, tourist destinations will no longer be isolated from each other and will be replaced with the coopetitive relationships. How to develop tourist destinations in the view of coopetition pattern has become a hotspot in tourism geography.Therefore, the regional tourism development is inseparable from the regional cooperation and competition of tourism which is called "coopetition" in this paper. It is of important practical significance to coordination of regional tourism and sustainable development by dealing with regional tourism coopetition relationship.Xinjiang is viewed as the "West holy land", which is of strategic importance to the tourism of China. In recent years, Xinjiang Populus Euphratica tourism experiences dramatic growth, which has aroused an increasing attention by industry and academia.Based on the comprehensive perspectives including human geography, regional economics and management science, etc. taking Shaya County as an example, this research discusses the changes of the coopetition pattern of Populus Euphratica tourism in Xinjiang Province, which focuses on strategic problems during the eco-tourism development of Shaya County. The dissertation includes six chapters.The first chapter gives the proposition and research designs. By reviewing the existed domestic and international research and literature, it sets forth the reason of choosing this topic and basic idea and framework of paper are briefly described in this chapter.The second chapter discusses relevant theoretical basis. It puts forwards theories that are related with regional coopetition in tourism, including game theory, competitive advantage and destination spatial competition theory.The third chapter identifies the current status of Populus Euphratica tourism development. It analyzes the macro developing environment from three major aspects, including distribution features of Populus Euphratica tourism resources, Populus Euphratica tourism's strategic position and basic types of tourism product development in Xinjiang.The fourth chapter demonstrates the coopetition situation in Populus Euphratica tourism in Xinjiang Province. Based on the tourism changes in Xinjiang, this chapter analyzes the coopetition pattern of Populus Euphratica tourism from the following aspects, which contains brand competition, tourism product competition, destination competition, implement of destination cooperation strategy, spatial pattern of destination cooperation, etc.The fifth chapter discusses the development strategies of eco-tourism in Shaya County. Considering the basic conditions for tourism development, it makes useful approach to the Populus Euphratica tourism development program and the eco-tourism development in Shaya County as well.The sixth chapter is the conclusion and discussion part. It summarizes and draws general conclusions in the course of the study; and puts forward proposal for follow-up study.
