With the continuous development of social economy, human resource has become scarcer, while the core competitive advantages of talents lie in their own accumulation of knowledge. Research shows that surpassing the traditional intellectual knowledge, tacit knowledge has become the primary knowledge source to maintain the core competitiveness of talents, and data reveals that there is a very high correlation between tacit knowledge and work performance, also it can make some good prediction about the performance indicators in work scenarios, which tells us that the importance of the tacit knowledge has been sufficiently confirmed. But looking through the current study about it, the majority research about the tacit knowledge has remained theoretical, and the most of empirical research existed is the verification exploration about the role of the tacit knowledge, while there is less empirical research about the extraction of the tacit knowledge. Considering such a situation, based on the related theory about the tacit knowledge, this paper starts to make empirical research about the extraction of the tacit knowledge.This paper uses of a particular method to extract the tacit knowledge from the sample groups, and through content analysis it makes statistical analysis about the data obtained, through which we gets the difference of the tacit knowledge representation between the college students and social workers. The whole research includes two main aspects:First, we summarize the current study about the tacit knowledge home and abroad, and makes detailed discussion about the self-interview(Self-Q) technology which will be used in this empirical research, also we make some changes about this technology according to the actual condition. We put forward the indicators of each small dimension about the tacit knowledge, and have them verified from the point of reliability and validation.Then, we use the self-interview technology to make the large-scale data survey, encode the data obtained, and make analysis from the three dimensional degree of the tacit knowledge——managing myself, managing others and managing task. The result shows that: Within the college students, there is no significant difference among these three dimensions between engineering students and non-engineering students, but some significant difference exists among some indicators; Within the social workers group, there is no significant difference among these three dimensions considering whether they are on-the-job postgraduate , but some significant difference exists among some indicators; Between the college students and the social workers, there is significant difference on the managing myself dimension, the managing others and the managing task dimension. Moreover, form the statistics we can conclude that the representation of the tacit knowledge is of the consistent feature.This paper uses the self-interview(Self-Q) technology to extract the tacit knowledge, which is a useful exploration to this research field, also it provides a good reference for the further research to extract the tacit knowledge with a more stringent procedures. Meanwhile, we hope in the future study we can use other methods like the scale method to make empirical research about the extraction of the tacit knowledge, and compare them to choose the better one.
