With the rapid development of tourism industry, international competitiveness of tourism trade has become an important part of national competitiveness. Competition among countries in the tourism market, which receives unprecedented attention, is becoming more and more vigorous. Although China's tourism trade has.recently been made great progress, there is still a gap in comparison with the tourism power, especially in international competitiveness. In order to become a world tourism power, China can not avoid the challenge to increase international competitiveness. Thus, there are important theoretical significances and practical meanings to study the international competitiveness of the tourism trade.Beginning with the analysis on the current situation of our country's tourism trade by use of Michael Porter's theory of industrial competitiveness, this paper sets up the appraisal index system containing the export market share index, TB, NTB and RCA index to analyze China's international competitiveness of tourism trade. It measures international competitiveness index on the basis of the import and export statistics of tourism trade from 2001 to 2009, which shows that China's export competitiveness of tourism trade is moderate, that means our country still has a gap from the traditional European and American tourism-developed countries. There are many influencing factors on the international competitiveness of China's tourism trade; this paper analyzes the factors from qualitative and quantitative. In qualitative analysis, it uses Professor Porter's "diamond" industrial theory to systematically analyze the six principal influencing factors on international competitiveness, namely, industrial organization, related industries, production factors, demand conditions, opportunities, and government. Then, with the help of EVIEWS software in quantitative analysis, this paper found that transportation facilities and tourism organization are the major influencing factors on international competitiveness. Finally, based on the conclusion made by qualitative analysis and quantitative evaluation, the author puts forward some useful recommendations for enhancing China's international competitiveness of the tourism trade, such as the implementation of the principle of sustainable development to comprehensively develop home and overseas tourism resources and markets; the increase of tourism human capital investment; the construction of the supporting industry and industrial chain; the improvement of competitive effectiveness of the organizational structures; the improvement of the integration of tourism products and so on.
