In this paper, the path-planning algorithm of hole-group drilling with multi- spindles drilling machine is proposed based on the analysis of the structure of drilling machine and the typical format of hole-group. The auto-programming system is developed.At first, the format of DXF (Drawing Exchange File) is analyzed, which is regarded as the interface file of Auto CAD. Taking Visual C++ as the developing tool, the DXF data of workpiece is obtained. The position data of hole-group is sorted with the use of STL(Standard Template Library). In order to reduce manufacturing time and advance efficiency, the path-planning algorithm of group-holes drilling with multi-spindles drilling machine is proposed in view of the structural similarity as well as tool interference in processing. In the part of post-process, NC code of Siemens 840D system is generated based on path file. At last, the simulation of processing is developed by the used of OpenGL. The result of simulation indicates that the path-planning algorithm is applicable to multi-spindle drilling machine.Since double-spindle drilling machine has its special feature, a symmetrical path-planning is raised, which means separating a row of holes into two parts from the midpoint of the row, so that the utilization of spindles is increased and the processing time is decreased. A motion control card titled DMC2410 is used to control the double-spindle drilling machine. The movement of each axis is controlled by calling related functions in DMC function library.
