As the reinforced structure preforms for textile composite,the three-dimensionalwoven fabrics have good performance in integrity, profiling and mechanical properties,which have been applied in the aerospace, defense and military industry, transportation,general machinery, construction, energy and other fields. It has been the research focushow to weave the3-D woven fabrics. To produce the3-D woven fabrics automatically,the3-D weaving machine with high efficiency and automation should be developed.Based on the weaving technology for3-D fabric, this project focus on theoptimization of the shedding mechanism, the weft system and the beating-upmechanism on three-dimensional loom. The main contents are as following:1. The key technology of three-dimensional woven fabrics is analyzed, and thebasic weaving process of three-dimensional loom is designed. According to the existingtechnology and the special demand of three-dimensional fabrics, the general design ofshed device, weft insertion device, beating-up device, let-off device and take-up andbatching device are optimized.2. The digital shed device driven by servo motors with suspension cords isdeveloped. Through the dynamic analysis of digital shed device and the test ofmechanical response properties, it is proved valid for3-D loom. Equipped withmulti-hole heddles, the digital shed device is simplified obviously, and the types andsizes of fabrics are expanded greatly.3. By analysis of rapier’s motion law and the properties of rapier loom’s weftinsertion device, two kinds of rapier weft insertion devices are designed—multi-rapierweft insertion device and multi-shuttle hold by rapier weft insertion device. The twotypes of weft insertion devices both are control by computer and PCI, and driven by servo motors, which can simplify the structure of weft device and vary the stroke ofweft insertion to adapt to the rapier motion for different structure fabrics, then enhancethe function of loom to manufacture variable fabrics4. The principle of beating-up resistance is studied, and the integral calculationmethod is present for the three-dimensional fabrics’beating-up resistance. Two types ofparallel beating-up devices are designed to realize beating-up parallel. Respectively,Slider-crank beating-up mechanism has good performance in neutral position, whichcan reduce mechanical vibration, and parallel four link-eccentric wheels beating-upmechanism is easy to operate.
