The manufacture of a high quality production not only depends on the high precision processing equipment but also high precision detection equipment. With the development of CIMS traditional dimensional measurement method of a part become more and more difficult to satisfy the requirements of modem manufacturing industry in efficiency and precise. Combined with the national 863 projects and the actual demand of box parts processing industry and considered the characteristic of box part with complex structure and low efficiency of processing and detection, we do some research about the technology of on-machine measurement to box part. In this paper, the main research results are as follows:(1) In view of the specialty of the box body, processing characteristics of box parts are analyzed. the machined surface on Body parts is mainly a large number of plane and hole, so the main inspection characteristic of box part are accuracy of hole, position accuracy of holes and hole, and flatness.(2) We do some research about the sampling strategy. A new method based on the phyllotaxis theory is applied as sampling strategy of NC machining cylinder and flatness inspection. Then an experiment was conducted. Compared with regular sampling strategy, phyllotaxis sampling strategy has higher inspection precision in the same size of inspection points. By this means phyllotaxis sampling lead to accurate sampling while minimizing the sampling time and cost.(3) In order to minimize the testing path leading to low inspection time, a method based on simulated annealing algorithm is applied in path planning, which could generate a optimal test path.(4) To satisfy the testing requirements of the boring and milling machining center,the rear processing technology of the boring and milling machining center is studied.The measurement data could transform to NC program by means of rear processing.The system of on-machine measurement to Box part Based on features was developed.
