Billet straightening machine is regarded as one of continuous steel casting key equipments, which has a direct impact on the quality of casting and the efficiency of continuous casting production line, so the requirement of Billet straightening machine becomes higher and more strict with the development of continuous casting technology in modern word. In the process of continuous casting, factors like long-time work in the environment of high temperature and dust, its vibration, fatigue,fever and so on have an impact on the active roller of straightening machine, the upper beam and the draw rod, which is easy to deform, crack. It has important practical significance to analyze straightening machine in finite element and optimize its structure to ensure the normal work of straightening machine.In this article, taking a steel billet straightening machine as the research object,three-dimensional models of billet straightening machine’s main parts are built and assembly simulation firstly by using software Pro/Engineer, on the basis of which the movement process is demonstrated through animation and working process was shown clearly. Secondly, from the view of vibration damage and strength check, the driving roller, upper beam and rod of modal will be analyzed by the software ANSYS after three-dimensional models are import to the software to get its natural frequency and the maximum stress and strain. The natural frequency of active roller, the upper beam and the draw rod is 679.32 Hz, 68.103 Hz and 23.086 Hz by modal analysis,which are all greater than the rotational frequency(3.33Hz) of the motor, so they won’t resonate; the maximum stress and strain of active roller, the upper beam and the draw rod is 94.8MPa and 0.086mm;70.5MPa and 0.634mm;25.7MPa and 1.69 mm by the finite element static analysis,so strength can satisfy operating requirement; By analyzing static analysis results of active roller, it is observed that the first ladder part of roll shoulders appears obvious phenomenon of stress concentration, where the damage condition of the active roll is obviously high. Finally, the structure of active roller will be improved,which the stiffened plate and convex platform will be add to he first ladder part of roll shoulders in the active roller. After comparing with modal analysis results of two improved plane for active roller, it is known that the maximum stress and strain after adding stiffened plates is 73.3MPa and 0.0668mm; the maximum stress and strain after adding convex platform is 61.7MPa and0.0562 mm.Its maximum stress and strain is less than before being improved, and the phenomenon of stress concentration has been improver obviously, which will improve the service life of the active roller. Comparing with two planes further, plane 2 of adding convex platform is better than plane 1 of adding stiffened plates.The research of this topic has not only the important guiding significance of practice production, but also the certain reference value of theory study.
