Research On Ecological Modernization Thoughts Of Xi Jinping Based On The Serial Speeches

Since the implementation of China’s reform and opening up policy, the achievement of the cause of modernization has caught world’s attention. However, the energy crisis and ecological crisis show because of bias and mistakes such as the waves of advancement in the process of modernization, and the neglect of natural and ecological carrying capacity. Report of the 18 th National People’s congress of the Communist Party of China has pointed clearly that we could not follow the former closed course and the ecological modernization thought put forward by President Xi Jinping is the criticism to this course. As the chief architect of Chinese new modernization, Xi Jinping is not only the architect of Chinese modernization but also the leader and practitioner. His positioning with multiple identities decides that his idea would lead the Chinese modernization.The paper is mainly composed of five chapters, elaborating two perspectives. First,from the perspective that combines macro and micro angle; Second, from the perspective of combining longitudinal and horizontal angle. In the specific research,literature methodology, cross-discipline cultural methodology and comparison methodology are adopted. In terms of the research, the author places Xi Jinping’s notion of ecological modernization on the basis of a series of speeches in different temporal and spatial contexts and makes a comparison:(1) Study the background of Xi Jinping’s notion of ecological modernization. In addition, the author sorts out the stage of appearance, formation, development and deepening of his notion of ecological modernization.(2) From the perspective of modernization theory, the author interprets many core propositions in Xi Jinping’s notion of ecological modernization based on his speeches and elaborates on its relationship with modernization and other sub-systems briefly.(3) The author compares Xi Jinping’s notion of ecological modernization with the ecological wisdom included in the traditional Chinese culture and the ideas proposed by western ecological modernization theorists in a horizontal and longitudinal manner.(3) From the perspective of modernization theory and specific context, the author interprets many core propositions in Xi Jinping’s notion of ecological modernization based on his speeches.(4) Finally, the author summarizes and concludesthe characteristics and significance of Xi Jinping’s notion of ecological modernization on the basis of a series of his speeches.Xi Jinping’s notion of ecological modernization based on a series of speeches demonstrates contemporaneity of advancing with the times, innovation of continuous development, integrity of holistic consideration, coordination of systematic thinking,authority of top-level design and so on. Xi Jinping creatively enriches Marxism’s theory about productivity and profoundly reveals the internal relationship between civilization and functions. In the process of facilitating ecological modernization, Xi Jinping emphasizes the overall optimization of structural functions. He proposes that top-level design and governance layout directly affect the effects of reform. Under the nation governance and political guidance, the path of ecological modernization is also being optimized. In particular, Xi Jinping stresses the mutual connections of the governance pattern of “five-in-one”, and further highlights the mutual reliance and supply relation among the sub-systems of modernization. Furthermore, Xi Jinping elevates ecological issues to the height of national strategy. He raises the ecological safety is one important part in the national safety system. In addition, in terms of the specific actions about ecological modernization, he puts forward new assertions and measures, demonstrated to be the handling of several mutual relations: the relation between government and market, the relation between ecological environment and society, the relation between preventive measures and remedial measures, the relation between laws and governmental instructions, etc.Xi Jinping’s notion of ecological modernization on the basis of a series of speeches is a new component of the socialist theories with distinctive Chinese characteristics. The study can help us better understand the connotations. More importantly, the application of the notion can serve the ecological modernization in our country. With the advancement of human civilization, the reflections and study on sustainable development have aroused concerns all over the world. Ecological civilization has become the general trend. What’s more, ecological modernization has been placed at a new height. In this sense, the study is of practical application values both domestically and internationally.
