The colour fastness of disperse dyes on polyester fibers with diftbrentfineness was studied. The influences of dye molecular structure, fiber finenessand alkaline deweighting on dye fastness was discussed thoroughly by a seriesof experiments. The results show that dye molecular structure is the decisivefactor in dye fastness. The dye with polar groups or having large molecularweight has good fastnesses to light and ironing. The dye with small diffosionCoefficient has good fastnesses to ironing and soaping. The relation of thecolour difTerence (△E) in ironing or soaping process with the dye's diffusioncoefficietnt D is linear, i.e. △E=α+βD. The dye's diffusion coefficient has alittle influence on the fastness to light. The fiber fineness has a great influenceon dye fastness. The dye fastness deteriorated as the fiber diameter decreased. The fabric deweighted with alkali has a slightly improved fastness to light and adecrease in the fastnesses to ironing and soaping. With a good rinse after dyeing, the polyester fabric dyed with disperse dye has a good fastness to rubbing. |
