In the industries of construction, chemical engineering, foodstuff and metallurgy, batching is a very important component of their processes. It has an important effect on product quality, even determines the nature of the products. Batching processes go through three periods: production in rough estimate with rules of thumb, simple production with weighing in low precision, complicated production with weighing in high precision, and the automation degree progresses gradually. Therefore, it is of great practicality to research the control and management system of stuffing of blast furnace.By summarizing the successful experience of batching system, in this paper, aiming at its existent problems, works in following aspects are mainly done: first, application fields of batching control system and its development status quo both in native land and foreign countries are summarized, emphasizing the importance of developing networked batching control system and management system in information age. Composition of generic batching system is discussed, and stuffing of blast furnace is given as an example to analyze in detail the composition of batching system, and user's requirements and design requirements are discussed at length from two aspects, namely, control and management. Second, presenting the requirement analysis for the control system of stuffing of blast furnace. Further more we discuss the general design of the system, analyze construction and design the framework of the system. Finally, we analyze three mostly important processes such as librating material, rolling, chose silos under the guidance of the technical chart of the blast furnace. On the basis of overall schematic design system of batching system, minute design of management system, control system (hardware), software and database are made, and with some projects compared, thus making this system can not only adapt to requirements of most current batching system, but also establish a basis for later extensive application. Substantive research is done for freefall control, the difficulty of control design for batching system, and impact of freefall is analyzed and studied in detail. Effective control strategy, i.e., two-level control strategy is put forward, improving robustness of freefall control. Efficiency of thiscontrol strategy is proved in practice. On the basis of system design, the whole system is developed and some results are given. In the final, some problems to be solved and the prospect of batching system in future is pointed out after summarizing the works done in this dissertation.
