MES ( Manufacturing Execution System ) is a kind of MIS ( Management Information System) for workshops between ERP of an enterprise and the control (?)n workshops. It is a bridge between ERP and the control, make the information of an enterprise smooth and complete. With the development of AMT (Advanced Manufacturing Technology) theory, AM and reconfiguration is the trend of MES development. The tool management system that the paper studies is a important part of MES, so it has great meaning to improve the reconfiguration of tool management. As tool is one of the most important and the most elementary manufacturing resource, realizing automatic management of tool by computer can improve the production efficiency of enterprise , make the use of tools properly and decrease the cost.First the paper introduces the idea and meaning of MES and its development, explains the function of tool management in MES. Next the paper describes UML and analyses its application in system analysis. With UML the paper makes the analysis of Use Case and static structure, dynamic structure. This provides great help in coding and makes users have clear understood for the system. At the same time this paper realizes the system with component technology, explains the design and realization of some components .at last the paper shows us the user interfaces detailed.The system realizes reconfiguration at some degree, and it is a good base for the study of reconfigurable of MES. Also the enterprise improves its production efficiency and information management through the application of the system.
