Qianglishenggu granules is a new compound preparation of Traditional Chinese Medicine, which is composed of Huangqi, Gushuibu, Dangcen, Chuanqiong, and Guibanjiao, etc. It has been used in clinic for many years with its function of tonifying kidney and strengthening bones, smoothing Qi and killing pain, and repairing injured bones. It is mainly used to cure ischemic necrosis of the femoral head, and slow recovery after frustration: ischemic necrosis of the femoral head now becomes a common disease.Based on the function of the prescription, combining with the nature and clinical pharmacy, Qianglishenggu granules optimize the extraction process: Chuanqiong and Baishu add water of volume of 6 for two hour, extract the volatile oil and combination of β-cyclodextin, the optimum extraction condition is obtained by Dangcen with 65% volume ETOH of one hour for each, the first with eight times volume, second with six times volume, third with four times volume; then the herbal leftovers combined with Huangqi, Yuanhu, Shouwu (fried), Gushuipu, extracted twice the water one hour for each, the first with ten times volume of water, second with eight times volume of water, third with six times volume of water, then the mixture was turned into granule product by spray drier and fluidized-bed spray granulator. After inspected the granule product and studied the quality standard, identification methods of the thin layer chromatography (TLC) suit to the herbs in the prescription is provided. After methodology researching, methods were established and a preliminary content criterion was made.Results: the research on the preparation technics are reasonable and practical, the quality of the product is steady and controlled..
