Grinding is widely used in many departments, such as metallurgical industry, chemical industry, cement plant, ceramic industry, architectural industry, power plant and so on. Especially in the mineral processing plant of metallurgical industry, it is more important. The capital construction investment and the production cost of grinding have high proportion in the mineral processing plant. And the mineral processing plant's work rate and the capacity of disposing original mineral are rested with the ball mill 's productivity and disposal capacity . Moreover , the quality of grinding production can produce a great impact on the following separation process. The ball mill is the primary equipment for grinding at prensent. It is primarily for its simple construction, easy for operation, steady and dependable production process, big broken up ratio, high work rate , good adaptability and so on. But it also has some disadvantage, such as the high consuming of electricity and steel, the low energy utilization rate. So, it is very important for advancing the technical and economic targets of mineral process. To get this , we need to exert well with the ball mill's advantage to improve the grinding process and the grinding efficiency.To improve the grinding process and increase the grinding efficiency, the most valid way is examining and controlling the charge of ball mill. But it is very difficulty to get that.There are two aspect reason. The first reason is the bad work environment and lacking the available method for examining the charge directly. The second reason is that the grinding process has many influence factor. Without the influence by the structure of ball mill and the priperty of material, it is still influenced by the ball mill's operation parameters, such as the charge volume, the critical speed, the ratio of material to media, the pulp consistency of grinding. So , those problems always attract our mineral processing engineers. And how to deal with those problems is always an important task on our research.After analyzing the merit and shortcoming of the current method for examining the charge of ball mill in domestic and abroad , this text put forward a new way to carry out the ball mill charge's test. By making use the pressure sensors to examine the dynamic weight of the whole ball mill, we can get the charge information from the signal of dynamic weight. Otherwise , the text has studied on the relationship between the pulp consistency of grinding and the dynamic weight.So, for researching the relationship between the pulp consistency of grinding and the dynamic weight, we have made a fit of frame for the installation of the five pressure sensors and the Φ 440 × 600 cone mill ball. With this, we can get the dynamic weight of ball mill in our laboratory. Otherwise , a set of computer data collecting and controlling system has been developed by making use of the " Kingview" industry control software and some signal collecting and converting molds. With this system, we can collect the pressure sensors'signal and save the data, and realize some basic control to the ball mill. Finally, on the foundation of the software and hardware, the experiment on the relationship between the pulp consistency of grinding and the dynamic weight has been carryed on, which were on the condition of the same charge volume and two different ratio of material to media. In this text, the process of how to design the hardware and software has been described detailedly, and also amalysed the principle of the test and the research possibility. After analysed the data of the experiment, some conclusion about the relationship between the pulp consistency of grinding and the dynamic weight has been given, which are useful the futhure continue research.
