In this paper, a new generation of antibacterial agents—Polyhexamethylene Biguanidine hydrochloride, which is suitable forthe application of cotton fabrics, was synthesized by the reaction ofdicyandiamide and hexamethylenediamine hydrochloride. It can act oncotton with the help of citric acid, and the treated cotton has good abilityof antibacterial. The best synthesis conditions and application processwere selected by mathematic method, and satisfying effect was acquired.The reaction product exists as primrose yellow power, and is easy tobecome soluble in water. Its solution is a kind of clear and transparentviscose liquid. According to change reaction conditions, production ratewas tested and the best reaction process was obtained. Structure,condition of synthesis and process of reaction was analyzed in this thesis.Process of synthesis and application of PHMB is simple. And it can beapplied to cotton fabric with crosslinking agents through padding, dryingand curing process, and the best treated process was obtained bycomparing. The FZ/T 73023-2006 standard was used to test antibacterialproperty of treated cotton, the result shows that cotton fabric treated byPHMB obtains better anti-Escherichia and anti-Coti, poorer anti-Bacillus.The antibacterial rate was above 85% after 50 times washing.This paper investigates on the mechanism, technics, the way toimprove treatment effect, mechanical and antibacterial properties ofguanidine antibacterial treatment, which will push the development ofenvironmental friendly textile product.
