| Photochromic compounds have gained great attention due to their unique photosensitivity and widely potential applications as reversible photo-mode, photo-switch devices and rewritable memory, etc. In recent years, great progress and success have been made on synthsizing new photochromic compounds for improving their properties, developping new photochromic system and exploring new applications.In this thesis, the recent developments of the synthesis and the applications of photochromic materials, especially on spiropyran, spirooxazine and fulgide derivatives were firstly reviewed. A series of spiropyran, spirooxazine and fugimide derivatives containing some functional groups such as OH, NH2, COOH were designed and synthesized. With the functionalized photochromic compounds some novel photochromic compounds containing multi-photochromophore were synthesized. The photochromic behaviors of the novel compounds in different solvents were investigated. Such new multi-photochromophore compounds showed the different absorption peaks from their parent compounds and the stability of colored form and the fatigue resistance of the compounds were much better compared with their parent compounds. Furthermore, the application of the novel photochromic compounds as photochromic reactive dyes have been explored and their dyeing properties were also studied. It has been found that the indofulgimide substituted photochromic active dye performed good photochromism and stability. |
