In the current economic situation, based on the examples of Tianjin Port, this thesis applies the simulation theory in the discrete event system and aims to give some reasonable suggestions in the future operation of Tianjin Port Container Terminal Yard by using the simulation output. In this way, the thesis proposes the idea of allocating the resource according to the market situation and it is helpful for future studies.This thesis firstly describes the composition of container storage yard and the main resources. After that, it shows the characteristics of all kinds of equipment and resources in the production process and the operational processes, (including import and export) are also given. Finally, mathematical model of the container storage yard resources is given according to the previous introduction.Secondly, the thesis gives an overview of system simulation and the related theory in the discrete event system. After the introduction of the relationship between a variety of factors, regulatory requirements and the application of the theories, the theoretical basis is provided for the following case analysis.Additionally, taking Tianjin Port Container Terminal(TCT) Yard as the research object, the thesis tries to construct the simulation system based on the previous theories and the production processes of TCT Container Terminal Yard. A reasonable analysis and evaluation is given according to the analysis of the final output.Finally, the future prospects and reasonable suggestions for the production management of TCT Container Terminal Yard are given.The innovations of this thesis are concluded as follows:First, some of the previous related research results and methods relying solely on modern optimization algorithms for solving local or general optimization, others use simulation technology in the production process to optimize a part of research. This thesis will apply simulation to the entire yard production operation and it is helpful to future studies.Secondly, from the qualitative perspective, the thesis builds the relationship between equipment utilization and of berthing time that is a negative growth. The thesis gives the equipment ratio which the container terminal yard should apply in the situation of different market requirements and provisions of the container liner companies. In this way, the thesis provides some suggestions on the future development of Tianjin port.Thirdly, the thesis conducts simulation research on the yard of container import and export by using ARENA simulation software. Treating the container as a temporary entity, the thesis applies the simulation theory in the discrete system on daily production activities of container storage yard.
