Study On The Blance Of Water Supply-demand As Well As The Sustainable Development Of Water Resources In Area Around Poyang Lake

Water is the basic natural resources and the strategic economic resources for the human and social development. At the same time water is an important dominating component in the ecological environment. The sustainable use of water resources is an utmost guarantee of the sustainable social and economic development.Jiangxi Province is in the southeast of China, locating along the southern bank of the middle and lower reaches of the Changjiang River. Mainly there are Gan River, Fu River, Xing River, Rao River, and Xiu River (Short for "Five River" below) flowing through the whole province and all flow into the Poyang Lake. The five rivers flow through the Lake Mouth and pour in the Changjiang River, forming the complete Poyang Lake water system.Recently, with the social and economic development, the total amount of the pollution discharge is increasingly rising, causing a continuous drop in the water quality every year. The current water supply in the area around the Poyang Lake is being through a tough time. Meanwhile, in recent years, the low droughty water level has brought great effects on the ecological environment around the Poyang Lake. In order to analyze and solve the currently existing problems in the development and exploration of water resources around the Poyang Lake, as well as the potential problems in the sustainable use of water resource, firstly this thesis has established an analysis model of the balance of water resources based on the government's water distribution plan. Furthermore, through this model, the thesis has analyzed and counted the balance of water quantity in different water-demand areas around the Poyang Lake;thirdly the thesis has analyzed the situation of water shortage in different areas under the precondition that the basic water-demand for the river is met. Last but not the least, the thesis has put forward some countermeasures against these problems. The thesis has also done an analysis on the impacts on the utilization of water resources in the area around the Poyang Lake caused by the Three Gorges Project and the key water control of Poyang Lake and has proposed solutions and countermeasures to them in the view of sustainable development and from the angle of project and non-project.The selection of the thesis is based on the sub-study of the National Public Benefit Research Sector—The Study of the Impacts on the Poyang Lake and the Five Rivers in Jiangxi Province after the Application of the Three Gorges Project and the Jiangxi Water Resources Bureau research project—The Study of the Water Quantity Distribution in Poyang Lake Area and the Establishment of Water Rights System. The thesis has profound practical significance. To do the analysis and research on the utilization of water resources in the area around Poyang Lake on one hand provides technology support for the construction of Poyang Lake Ecological Economic District, on the other hand, looks for the proper countermeasures to improve the water quality and protect the whole waters from being damaged. It has strategic and practical significance in the sustainable development of both Poyang Lake the whole province.
